P.S. I haven't used this computer in a very long time so if the colors are off... my bad.

It has been forever, but eh...

SO I have to get this in before I head to F1 in Austin, and am sorry about yet another delay in posting but such is life, and life happens.

We left off at vodka covered strawberries, and we shall continue at Magic Martin...

I made a promise to Jace, our liqour store champion, that if a bottle was still there when I came back the next week I would buy it.

It was quite large

Due to the size it pretty much demanded a bottle opening party. Unfortunately/fortunately I was asked to watch the folks house. To make it wicked awesome, my sis decided to join us for the fun, and she even brought Bob!

So with the gang, and a few extras (Martin's Wife, Weeks, Week's Wife & kid) I popped the bottle

Because Holiday

This week's Farket day was more geared toward.... well... the internet.

THIS LINK will essentially lead you to this video...

[[gotta give credit where credit is due, and I love the link backs]]

So I started attacking linking most of the people that I know would be interested in it, one of them was Katy. Katy's mind was blown, well everyone's was but that doesn't really matter, and from that moment on it was decided that we must do it.

So we did.

Farket Day 10.25.12

Farket Day 10.25.12

But we couldn't just do the pumpkin keg, that would be too normal. So we added bacon.

Candied bacon.

Chocolate covered candied bacon.

Farket Day 10.25.12

And to finish it all up, we couldn't help ourselves, we had some Chocolate Stout Beer Floats...

Farket Day 10.25.12

I don't have a lot of sweets, but when I do... they are mind blowingly delicious.

oh...

and with the left over chocolate (and thanks to tumblr) I made sure to also pick up some strawberries while at the Farket to do a slightly different version of THIS.

I didn't have a jar large enough to fit all of the strawberries so I chopped off the stems, and had more chocolate than needed so I dribbled it on

Vodka Soaked Chocolate Strawberries

I left a  note for Martin on the white board about their "potency" but I am curious if he is going to see/heed it.

Color Swatch Wall Art

My room has been... well... lacking in interesting things on the walls.

Color swatch wall art

So I have known about this for a bit of time, but had no way to do it at the cat house (due to the shoe wall). However, now that I can... attack.

Over 800 Color swatches collected
Color swatch wall art

Instead of going straight into the wall, which would leave me with the nightmarish time of filling the thousands of holes or massive painting when I move, Martin gave the idea of mounting it to poster board first. So on the way home we made a quick trip to Staples, and acquired the needed stock (22x48 if you wanted to know).

Once we got home we organized the colors that were going to be used
Color swatch wall art

and then really organized the colors.
Color swatch wall art

What the spread of colors on the table did not show was the stack of the whites, grays, and blacks. I decided that the last two panels that I would make would be in gray scale. What I didn't realize is that there are quite a few swatches that all use one of those colors to describe it [think heather gray, or white rose]. So I decided that if a swatch had one of those descriptors in it, I would use it in one of the last panels. Gray scale just became... huescale?

From then on it was just a matter of positioning, and gluing all of the colors to the poster board.
Color swatch wall artColor swatch wall artColor swatch wall artColor swatch wall art

The collection after the first day
Color swatch wall art

Now I wont burden you with all of the swatch boards, but you know where to find them [NOW YOU REALLY DO]

Each of these boards took me about an hour and a half to prep and glue, so find some good music/audio book (I chose audio book, Game of Thrones).

A few days later (tried to get at least one done a night) I mounted what I had to my wall.
Color swatch wall art

I was very stoked at the change that just that was able to give, and really couldn't wait to see the final layout.

After over 24 hours of prep, gluing, and mounting I finally finished my color wall.
Color swatch wall art

If you have the wall space, or want to make just one board I would highly recommend it, it was awesome fun. I really do think that this was one of the more interesting (as well as one of my favorite) transformations that I have ever done; after all, there really is nothing better than turning a room from bland to blatantly fantastic for around $20.

Couple Weeks Review

I know.. I KNOW... I said that I would be posting every week, but these last couple Fridays have been spent driving or doing things, hell it is hard to believe that only a couple weeks ago I was in The City (aka San Francisco). So lets get to it... actually I am going to preface this with there is another post already queued in the mix to show you what I have REALLY been up to, or rather my latest project that I have been  working on [[imho it is one of the radder things that I have done]].

I missed this photo from one of my older posts, and I just had to include it in this one.

Along with the scarf that I made for Martin, I also knitted a scarf for Logan's 24th birthday; 24 cast ons, and about 240 yards of yarn.

Sept-over

Mooooooooorininnnnnnn'

So the last actual week was quite... long. Workwork was a bit more strenuous than normal since we were one short and I had to do the job of two people; but being awesome ::cough cough::: totally humble ::cough cough:: has its consequences.

I got a bit jealous that Wells was posting some panoramics of his office and work, and I had to follow suit with a couple of my own.

This is where I put all of the ideas onto a screen so that our clients will give the hell yes stamp of approval.

Bleh

I haven't posted something like this in awhile, but wtf... Seriously wtf I am doing wrong.

Things seemed like they could have been good, sure not all the cards were laid out, and yes it was fairly early; but why have I been continually plagued with seeing people that are "going through a tough spot in their life," or "it is just too soon after xxxxxx." No joke it has happened to me the last 3 people that I have dated...

It is really trying my patience being a Ted Mosby. And because of that, the next opportunity that I have I'm going to try really hard not to be. I will fail miserably at doing so, but at least I'll be giving it a shot.

-grumble grumble grumble

New Things!

So I am really getting to like this a week at a glance thing. Sure it is kind of lazy in its own way, but then it forces me to take photos of all of the stuff I do so that I can post them all here. WOO!

My new shoes finally came in, ZIG-ZAG Winos.
ZIG-ZAG wino

They came with some alternative lace color
ZIG-ZAG wino

And for those that know me, and for those that follow me, you know that I went with the red laces. As far as the shoes as shoes are concerned, they are awesometastic: very light, comfortable, and the 13s fit my 14 feet!

Katy, James, Martin and I were joined by a very special guest this week for Farket day MISSY! Martin's wife. It was by far one of the best farket scores that I have had in a long time. Also I tried my hand at some jalapeno poppers (without the breading)..... O_O amazeballs. They were stuffed with either feta, mozzarella, cojita, brie, or a combination of a couple of them. The cojita was the biggest success amongst the group, but my favorite was the brie (spicy of the jalapeno with the smoothness of the brie... best)
Farket day 9.20.12

I had a very happy iPhone 5 release day, I ordered online and had it shipped to my folk's house

Sunday rolled around and Martin, Missy, and I (I really wish that I could use "me" in that situation... IT WOULD BE TRIPLE M!!!) moseyed (that would have been quadruple) to Fallbrook to have some fun as well as have some fun celebrating my pop's birthday. It was ggggooooodddddd. Sadly you will have to wait for photos, as I still have to edit them, however I can say that it was super fun.

Images of things that have happened in the last week or so...

My iPad was broken by the cleaning people at work, or so I think because it happened during working hours and they moved it while I was at lunch.... This is what happened to the screen...

Thankfully because I am still under the 1 year warranty Apple replaced it with a new one! So everything is back to super technology; YEAY!

I realized that even though I have been going to the Farmer Market, now known as Farket, for the last 3 months I have yet to take any shots of the act of foraging. Here is a sample of some of what they have to offer.

and after 4 days of it i feel awesome and ready for more, so I am going to give my body a rest today and then take a long morning ride satuday, get that total to 130ish!

-Insert parental type rant-
Now I do not keep the cleanest and tidiest of rooms, but it is respectable and I never have a fear about bringing someone into it, i.e. a girl. The rest of my roommates don’t feel the same way... they are a bit more of the messy type and seem to have no issue with it; 3 cats, inside cats btw, don’t make for a nice smell. Now I cook quite a bit, and usually cook enough food for two people. When I am done cooking I clean my dishes and 98.654% of the time I clean the pots/pans that I used as well. This has been building up for about a week and now I can’t even clean the dishes that I just used. ==When I do clean them I usually make a whole bunch of noise as well; this way, whomever is near knows that they have the capability to clean their own stuff after they are done, thanks mom==

So after a full day of work, 1.5h of cycling (woo 104 miles in 4 days!!), and cooking dinner I spend another hour and a bit cleaning everyone else dishes.

Then I take a shower and finally can relax at 10pm. Now to show my roommates what I spent my evening doing, I left them sprawled on the counter so they can see how many dishes were actually jammed into that sink.

I go to bed, wake up and walk downstairs to grab my apple and banana for breakfast and I see....

When you think about going 3d...

You ask the community...

[21:11] < CrazyOctopus> anyone here?
[21:11] < CrazyOctopus> rather alive?\
[21:12] < maxbots_> No, think the world ended a few minutes ago, nothing left but zombies
[21:12] < CrazyOctopus> fantast, because zombie printers are at least stable to the current build
[21:12] < maxbots_> lol
[21:13] < CrazyOctopus> I have a very basic question that google can't answer for me.
[21:13] < maxbots_> no problem, shoot... just don't aim for the head
[21:13] < CrazyOctopus> i am about to invest in a prusa mendel, and want to make sure that I am getting to best that I can from the kit
[21:14] < maxbots_> Zombies can answer questions, but not if you shoot us in the head
[21:14] < CrazyOctopus> it is fine, form what i have heard i have terrible aim
[21:14] < maxbots_> good. ;-)

So as of tomorrow after work I am getting a MakerGear Prusa Mendel with a 3mm extruder and an additional hot-end kit.

--Don't worry I haven'y forgotten about the car. I am waiting on word for my clutch actuation, and if i hear nothing from that then I am going with the McLeod hydro throwout bearing and just finishing it all off.

This isn't your normal skyline. This motherfcker is the skyline God would drive if he wasn't busy doing God sh*t like making tsunamis and crap. Its set up to go fast, and go fast sideways. Who doesn't like to get sideway?! Terrorists, thats who. Are you a terrorist? No? Then you need this car.

Handling? This car handles like a junior executive CEO. Go around corners like the devil himself is chasing you, and not give a fck.

Whats that? You like drifting? Well I've got some great god d@mn news for you. This car was a drift project of mine, and the last owner was planning on making it a drift machine too. Interior is for pussies so we got rid of it. Manly as fck. It literally oozes testosterone. So much so that its puddling up in the back.

Seats? this cocks*cker has got two. One for you, and one for the hot @ss broad thats gunna be all upons your dick after you buy this car. You're a girl? Sh*t works both ways. One seat for you, and one seat for that hot @ss dude you've been trying to hook up with for weeks. Deal with it,sh*ts getting serious.

Stereos and AC are for hippies. Fortunately this car has neither. Oh look at me, I like listen to Simon and Garfunkel and think about puppies. F*ck that. The only noises you're gunna be hearing is the ultra manly engine noises coming from this sweet turbocharged, intercooled, 24 valve inline 6. Sh*ts getting real, real f*cking fast.

This car has got a bright orange ebrake handle (b*tches love orange) with a drift button for those super ultra megahellatastic bar room brawler ebrake lockers. F*ck. Yes.

Now, I'll be honest. The wheels are a little lackluster, although everyones gunna be so focused on your super gangster drifting that nobody is going to give a f*ck about your sh*tty stock 16s. Don't worry, I've got you fcking covered. Its like we're in Vietnam and you just got ambushed by Charlie. Don't worry, friend, I've got your fcking back and I blow charlie to kingdom fcking come. For an extra $450 I can throw in some added p*ssy magnets for wheels, just don't come crawling back to me complaining that you're getting TOO much vajayjay. Bright fcking green 18s. Greens not your thing? Super legit silver 18s. Done like dinner.

This car has got 1.5 metric f*ck tons of awesome parts. Bride, Greddy, Brembo, the list doesn't f*cking END. It just keeps going and going, like the energizer bunny on speed.

You like going fast? Ever tried to outrun 24 police cars and 3 helicopters? You need this car. It will go so fcking fast that you may very well go back in time. It happened to me once. Just once, but it was fcking rad. Its like someone took a rocket and opened its mouth and poured steroids down its throat and and threatened to kill its family if it wasn't the fastest motherfcker you've ever driven.

I get it. You're busy, I'm busy, lets not waste time. If you're interested send me a message and I'll get back to you ASAP. You send me a message, I send you one right back. Thats how this works.

-Fucking brilliant

SF trip and such

Woah, had no idea that it would take me this long to actually post something about the San Fran trip but things have been hectic and well... the drinks have been plenty.

Arrived in SF and checked into The Hotel Kabuki and was pleasantly surprised to have a view like this

August SF
August SF
-baller, and it was awesome-

After a quick nap I called up Logan to ask him where the best spot would be to kill some time while we wait for him to get off work. He suggested that the first place that we go to is The Grove for sammitches. It was delicious.

August SF
-I was talking when the shot was taken, gotta be polite!-

We meandered up and down Fillmore street stopping in at random shops, and climbing hills

August SF
-little steps!-

Dropped by an optics place in the marina (I hate myself for not remembering the name of the place and cant find it, BECAUSE THE GUY WAS AWESOME. I tried looking for a place called optiks but if you know of the eyeglass place next to a bar with an orange awning let me know) where we got some sunglasses adjusted and had an awesome conversation about vintage silhouettes and sunglass design

August SF

Shortly after Logan called around and said that he would be back in the city in a couple hours where we met at his house. His room, and roommate were fucking awesome so we all decided to get some Thai at 2001 Thai Stick where we promptly drank Sake and beer and finished off the meal with some awesome rice and whatnot.

Then Logan and I skipped with massive speed to the next block to bring the remaining food back to his place

==we skipped so fast they couldn't catch our speed==

With the food dropped off we strolled to
August SF
where I already had a good buzz going, and promptly had more drinks, and even better drink drinks were large and strong. Logan showed us a dice game called three man, which in my opinion trumps red/black/high/low/same 10 fold. Needless to say that buzzed turned into a well placed awesome buzz

Next stop was to karaoke at a bar inside of the closed Japantown mall, I was stoked.
August SF

I have not sung karaoke since I was... 21ish(?) so singing a duet with Logan to Aladdin's "A Whole New World" was awesome!

August SF

Elize got in on the action as well with a multi-song set
August SF

We got the crowd up and yelling and left a few songs later.

Next morning we all met at a restaurant in downtown and made our way back to the Marina where Logan and I parted ways with the kids and walked to the Presidio where Logan showed me the statue of greatness, in the land of nerddom

August SF

we walked around talked Star Wars and design, then walked to a bar called The Final Final, had a few brews and then got a call forcing us to head back to the statue and nab a photo of us in front of the statue... this is 5pmish right when Lucas Studios get off work...

August SF

we ran away.

Met the rest of the gang at a neat restaurant (Liverpool Lil's)where the waitress had to super confirm that we were indeed a party of 5 at least a hundred times. Totally worth it as the drinks were cold ad the food was good, and the waitress turned out to be hilarious.

The next day we did the more touristy stuff and drove across the bridge.

August SF

and went to the museum to get japanese tea and meander around before I drove back home

It ended quite horribly, but such is life cant have too much good without having the bad. I got back on the road for the 8 hour stint back home, and after an hour or so I pulled off and bought myself a coffee and gas. I look down at the speedo and was pleasantly surprised to find my car just hitting

80k!

BOOM!

I got home around midnight and promptly crashed hard as I had to wake up 6 hours from then. Once I arrive I find out that my favorite coworker is leaving the company, and that the software that I am helping develop needs a massive rush of new design drawings... ugh. Thankfully it was a short week and I made my way to San Diego on Friday to have some sushi and drinks; needless to say good end to a stressful week.

Finally I arrive to this week were I held some interviews to fill the soon to be vacated position, and most of the applicants were laughable at best. One would think that with this economy there would be a rush of either overqualified people or people with fantastic resumes; nope. Surprisingly the best applicant was with a guy that had the least exp of them all, but I have a couple more ahead of me this week so we shall see.

As I am sure some of you had heard we had a California snow day with the power going out; it was awesome. Really, I swear. Granted i have dealt with power outages in the past but dealing with them as an adult leads to soo much more fun as alchy and extreme darkness/quiet is involved. Wade and I built a bonfire out of the dead tree in our backyard

Power outage
-WWOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!-

Power outage
-Skulled-

And then I got a call from Ian saying that he is cooking up some smoked Tri-tip, had my favorite cigars on hand, and a some whiskey and beer to wash it all down. Nearly needless to say, I hadn't had that much fun in a long time, and was a much needed mini-vacation after the last couple weeks. Unfortunately I had to go back to work on Friday after power returned around 11:45pm that night.

Thankfully it was a short work day and was able to get home after I finished up some errands. That night Erin made her way over to the house where Wade had the awesome idea of making some breakfast burritos with chrizzo, a plethora of peppers, refried black beans, and some eggs. It was fucking delicious and really want to start making breakfast for dinner more often. The next morn Erin and I went to coffee where my sis dropped by and killed a few hours. Ian dropped by and after a quick talk suggested that we should watch watch Fear[s] of the Dark that eve. We parted ways and met back up at the house to watch the flick after I made dinner; whole wheat gnocchi with garlic sauce with a spinach salad. While I am not a fan of horror movies the animation was astounding, and the individual plot lines were good (not great as a whole movie, but the segments were rad).

Woke up this morning and finished acquiring the latest Formula 1 race, Monza. While I have yet to see the race as I am waiting to watch it at Jeg's going away party (moving to London to study race car engineering, bitch) qualifying looked great and Hamilton is sitting in a cool second.

Speaking of which I need to pick up some last minute stuff for the party so I am just going to post this without editing it, deal with it.

==on the car note I have decided that I am going the expensive and fast route and am picking up a McLeod Hydraulic throwout bearing this week and am putting a massive halt on all other life projects until the car is done, I MUST HAVE IT DONE BEFORE MARTIN RETURNS!!!==

Santa Rosa

I really do wish that I able to come up here more often, but with a legitimate work schedule it is getting harder to do so. This trip up north was a short one, but still really good, and really having a family member to confide everything in is really nice; friends are amazing, partners are fantastic, but family is best. We both talked about what has been going on in our lives, and I actually chuckled a bit every time that I noticed how similar we both actually are. But this post isn't really about that, it is actually something I am doing to pass the time while I wait to start drinking and exploring (but I have already started drinking ssshhh.).

==in advance sorry for not tagging and editing this to the thoroughly, I really don't know when I will be off and wanted to get this on the internets asap... Then again I am probably going to just leave my comp running in the room because it is taking FOREVER to upload these photos.==

so onto the photos!!

Fight Stick

Mornin'

So I know that it has taken me a bit of time to actually post anything, but meh I have been fighting streets and building stuff. This is one of those things.

When I heard that Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike was coming to online download I had to finally break down and fight stick it up, after all pads don't look as nerdy. While I could have just bought one that works and looks like this...

Street Fighter IV fightstick from Mad Katz

But as you know by now, I am the kind of person that would rather build than just buy. So on to it!

Wade and I started with a bunch of research at http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick.html and then purchased the buttons and joystick on EVO2k11 weekend. They all came in a few days later, minus the joystick's ribbon cable... BITCHES!! few days after that we went to Home Depot to pick up the few tools that I didn't have, and then be fucking ballers and buy really nice wood.

Shortly thereafter we made some cuts to said fancy wood and come up with this.
Super custom Fight Stick

Made a few holes and mounted one side
Super custom Fight Stick

and then Then a puppy came over
puppy night!

Finished up the sides and back and then made the cuts for the buttons.
Super custom Fight Stick

yeah... kinda big...

Then got it all wired up, only to have it fail because I needed something crazy to get the buttons to work with a ps2-a controller...
Super custom Fight Stick

Wade saved the day and lent me his ps1 controller and within a short bit I had it all connected and rocking to the max!

I have yet to secure everything down to the bottom board and clean it all up because the ribbon cable has yet to show up, but when that does I'll be sure to post the photos of the finish product.

Now I am going to start drinking, taking photos, cycle around town, and having fun with my cousin and his kids (they won't be drinking) in Santa Rosa!
